Rohaise Rose-Bristow

Owner, The Torridon Resort, Highlands

  • What was your favourite subject at school? –  I loved English at school – writing essays – using my imagination and being creative with the stories I could write, was very exciting to me.
  • What was your first job? – At 17, I went to work at Inverlochy Castle, Fort William, had the most amazing experience and got hooked on working in the luxury hotel market. Oved the drama, excitement and ‘being on stage’ every day.
  • Which is your favourite restaurant /hotel? It changes all the time but currently it is Meadowood in Napa Valley, it blew me away.
  • How do you inspire your team – Challenging the way they think by Believing in them so they can always do better, developing them, striving to be the best version of themselves, supporting them to get back up if they are knocked down, learning from their mistakes and mine.
  • Which is your favourite restaurant /hotel?Favourite restaurant is, Pine, Northumberland – It was absolutely fabulous, can’t stop thinking about the experience.   Need to book to go back soon.
  • Which person in hospitality have you most admired / inspired you? Gretta Hobbs, the owner of Inverlochy Castle, she was the owner and I wanted to be her.  But tbh, our industry is full of amazing people so it is not difficult to be inspired each time we get together.
  • How do you manage your stress levels? –Exercise, I run, cycle and do yoga – gives me the head space I need to create challenge and opportunity.
  • Instagram, Twitter or Facebook – and why?Instagram – I get new ideas from it.
  • If you had not gone into hospitality, where do you
    think you would be now?
I can’t imagine doing anything else.
  • What did you do on your last days off? Went body boarding on Loch Torridon on the back of a boat we share with some friends. I was too scared to water ski.
